Military Makeover travels to Statesville, North Carolina, to renovate the home of Jared and Sydney Bowman.

Bowman began his military journey at Fort Jackson in South Carolina and was quickly recognized for his leadership abilities. In June 2022, during a training jump with his airborne unit, a traumatic incident resulted in a severe back injury—where he broke his T-12 and L-1 vertebrae—marking the beginning of a challenging path to recovery.

But this didn’t stop him. Despite grappling with physical and emotional challenges, Jared remains committed to his recovery journey. Recognizing the profound impact of his experiences, he sought professional assistance for PTSD, depression, and anxiety through the Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone. Thanks to that, he has diligently cultivated adaptive coping mechanisms to manage physical pain and nurture his mental well-being.

Jared and his wife with their four daughters are also actively engaged in their local church community, contributing through teaching roles and pastoral visits to congregants unable to attend services.

We’re so happy to partner with Purple Heart Homes, who are generously sponsoring this makeover from day one until the moment we bring our veteran home.
