The Reeves Family

Meet the Reeves family on Military Makeover with Montel®, a veteran family defined by devotion. Sean Reeves, born in New York and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, developed a deep sense of duty from a young age. The events of September 11, 2001, profoundly impacted Sean, sparking a desire to serve his country. During his teenage years, he made the decision to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps, driven by the call to protect and defend his country. In the summer of 2008, right after high school, he joined the USMC. Sean served as an infantry rifleman (0311) in the USMC. Stationed with the First Battalion, Second Marines, Sean deployed to Afghanistan in 2010, where he experienced the harsh realities of combat. His unit faced regular firefights and numerous challenges. During Operation Northern Penetration, Sean sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and three gunshot wounds after an IED blast and a subsequent ambush. Despite his injuries, Sean demonstrated immense courage, continuing to serve until he was medically retired in 2011. In recognition of his bravery and service, Sean has been awarded numerous honors, including the Purple Heart, Nato Medal ISAF Afghanistan, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon with a Presidential Unit Citation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Rifle Qualification Badge Sharpshooter. Following his military career, Sean returned home to North Carolina, where he found a new calling as a care coordinator at Veterans Bridge Home. His work with veterans, military personnel, and their families focuses on connecting them to vital resources, ensuring they receive the support they need during difficult transitions. In addition to his professional role, Sean continues to fight the long-lasting effects of his service, including cognitive issues, chronic pain, PTSD, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (now in remission). Through it all, Sean maintains a strong commitment to his fellow veterans, offering support and guidance whenever needed. Sean’s life partner, Marilyn Cecilia Williams, has been by his side since their high school days. Though they were reintroduced years later at Sean's sister's wedding, they have been inseparable since 2015, considering themselves husband and wife, despite not legally marrying. Marilyn is currently employed as a junior programmer/analyst at Atrium Wake Forest Health. Marilyn, who also comes from a family with military ties, enjoys various hobbies, including gardening, art, and spending time with animals. She and Sean share a deep bond, providing each other with immense support through the challenges they both face. Today, Sean and Marilyn, alongside their close-knit family, continue to embrace the power of community and family. And through Military Makeover with Montel, the Reeves family will receive the transformation they truly deserve. With the help of our generous partners, we aim to create a home that reflects the sacrifices the Reeves Family have made in service to others.
