The Linn Family

Meet the Linn family on Military Makeover with Montel® — a veteran family defined by service and perseverance. Stephen Linn, from San Antonio, Texas, served nearly a decade in the Army, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as a rifleman, scout, and sniper in the 10th Mountain Division. During one intense Afghanistan mission, Stephen’s platoon came under heavy fire, but through coordinated action, they completed their mission without casualties. For his service, Stephen earned two Valorous Unit Awards, the Army Commendation Medal, and recognition as a Distinguished Member of the 30th Infantry Regiment. Today, Stephen works as a nationally certified Critical Care Registered Nurse at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Somerset, New Jersey. As a Rapid Response Nurse, he supports patients and teaches the next generation of nurses. He continues to face the mental effects of his time in combat, including PTSD, tinnitus, back pain, knee joint pain, and other chronic pain. In 2023, Stephen also survived a motorcycle accident and two strokes. After months of recovery, he returned to the work he considered his calling. With the help of Military Makeover with Montel and our trusted partners, the Linns will soon receive a home makeover and support that aims to bring more comfort, ease, and joy to a family who has served, endured, and continues to give back to their community.
