The Harvey/Woodruff Family
Luke Harvey and Natasha Woodruff know all too well what it’s like to sacrifice for their country. The couple met while recovering from serious injuries sustained while serving in the U.S. Army. For Luke, multiple IED explosions on his convoy in Iraq left him with severe head injuries and nerve damage from shrapnel that lodged in his body. He suffered memory loss and the ability to walk for a short time after the explosions. Luke was medically retired in 2014 for post-traumatic stress disorder and TBI and was awarded the Purple Heart and an Army Commendation with Valor device. Natasha suffered the ultimate betrayal during her service–she was sexually assaulted by her drill sergeant. The attack left her with severe pelvic injuries, panic attacks and post-traumatic stress disorder. Since being medically retired in 2014, she has endured multiple hip surgeries and was awarded the Women of Courage award by the Pentagon. Natasha continues to travel the country sharing her story and educating military personnel on the dangers of military sexual assault. Through their shared trauma, Luke and Natasha bravely soldier on, raising their three children: Luke, 14, Xylee, 3, and one-year-old Coen. In partnership with major brands and local volunteers, Military Makeover is undertaking a complete renovation of support of Luke and Natasha’s Lincolnton, North Carolina home.
