Master Gunnery Sergeant Marcelino Marquez has served 27 years on active duty and in the Reserves, and spent more than five years assigned to Mortuary Affairs. Studies have shown that Mortuary Affairs personnel have some of the highest rates of post-traumatic stress disorder. Marcelino continues to struggle every day with the experiences he encountered while serving in Mortuary Affairs. Now it’s time for Military Makeover to give back to Marcelino by undertaking a complete makeover of the Dacula, Georgia, home he shares with wife Frances and their three children.

Moving on to the makeover, we first need the Marquezes to vacate the house to make way for construction. That means we need some reliable storage solutions. PODS moving and storage is proud to serve the men and women who serve our country.

Then, ABC Supply Co. is back and doing some big things for this makeover. Though the Marquez home has a recently updated roof, ABC went above and beyond with what the family really needs. ABC is contributing all new siding, exterior doors, and windows.

Next, We’ve been able to make great progress with generous tool donations from our partners at Rocky Mountain Twist. Their American-made Montana Brand tools, including drill bits, countersinks and much more, are crucial to this makeover.

Tarkett is another rock-solid contributor on board for their eighth makeover. They’re installing modern and stylish designs throughout the house, including their NuGen GlueDown and ProGen lines. These durable flooring lines should fit perfectly into the Marquez family’s busy lifestyle.

Finally, Montel sits down with Marcelino to discuss his traumatic experiences serving in Mortuary Affairs in Iraq and Afghanistan. Marcelino knows that seeking help isn’t something to be ashamed—it actually takes a lot of courage. He wants to tell his story to help other veterans.
