An Illinois state school surrounded by nature, the 752-acre Governors State University south of Chicago — fondly known as ‘GovState’ — provides an academic environment and support system ideally suited to America’s military veterans.

Special programs and assistance directed at vets, along affordable tuition and class-credits awarded based on qualifying and previous military job roles while in the military, GovState provides an ideal academic culture. They truly help students reach their educational, career, and life goals.

Six years ago, GovState transitioned to a four-year university and welcomed its first freshman class. To date, the school boasts an active and engaged student population. Dorms are available for those who need or want to live on campus.
