Everything You Need To Know About Combat Gel

Ashley Elliot is one of the many people who have blown up on TikTok within the last few years.

Elliot, an information technology specialist in the U.S. Army, built a massive following around her morning hair routine, but this isn’t any normal hair routine. Ashley is required to neatly secure her hair every morning for her job.

Military Hair Policy

While serving in the military, there are standards on how active military personnel must wear their hair. Men must have their hair always neat and well-groomed. Their hair should never be longer than four inches and never touch the ears or collar. Men’s hair also may not extend past the eyebrows. Now, hair policy can get a little tricky for women, who traditionally have longer hair than most men. The military policy for women’s hair is it must be neatly fastened and secured into a bun, ponytail, or single braid.

The military has these rules to make sure every soldier can perform their assigned duties as safely as possible. Soldiers who have thicker, or longer hair can make it difficult to perform tasks or wear military headgear. Soldiers with thick hair could impede in proper fit and function of safety equipment. Most soldiers use hair products to keep their hair secure and neat. A general hair product used by many is hair gel.

What Is Combat Gel?

Ashley found keeping her hair secure a problem and decided to create her own hair gel, Combat Gel.

Combat Gel is a hair gel that keeps your hair secure and neat all day. “It may be stronger than your relationship” reads their slogan. Elliot’s story starts with her trying to find the right hair gel to do her hair every workday. She used different brands of hair gel every week, trying to find the right one that would keep her hair neat and secure for an entire workday. During her quest to find the perfect hair gel, Elliot started posting videos on TikTok of her morning hair routine. These videos gained the attention of millions of people, so much so, that she built a community around her journey to finding the right hair gel. Shortly after, her devoted followers called Elliot to release her hair gel to solve her problem. Within a few months, Combat Gel was created.
