In honor of President’s Day, we figured it would only be right to celebrate our past and present Presidents by looking back at some wise words shared by our nation’s former leaders. Let’s face it, no President has an ‘easy’ job.

John Adams was the second President of the United States. He is known for his ability to rally Americans for the cause of independence. Adams was the first President to live in the White House and was the longest-living president at age 90, until Ronald Reagan, 178 years later.

Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States. The Virginia native was a man of many hats, he was a statesman, diplomat, lawyer, architect, philosopher, and Founding Father. Jefferson is most notable for being the primary writer of the Declaration of Independence.

Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States. Also referred to as Teddy Roosevelt, he was a conservationist and naturalist. President Roosevelt was an avid hunter. One day he went bear hunting but refused to shoot the black bear he was hunting. This story made headlines and in honor of Teddy Roosevelt the popular stuffed bear was nicknamed ‘Teddy Bear.’

Abraham Lincoln is considered by many as the greatest President of the United States ever. Lincoln served as the 16th President. He had many accomplishments while serving, but his biggest is biggest accomplishment was helping the North win the Civil War to stop slavery. Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation and helped write the 13th Amendment which abolished slavery. He is also part of the origin of President’s Day.
